In case you haven’t noticed, eBooks have really taken off in the last ten years, in no small effort from Amazon. It’s not hard to realize why eBooks have become popular: you can buy them with a click of a button, they’re cheap, and you can carry many books on your eReader or your phone. What is shocking is that despite the ease of eBooks, physical books are still around and kicking and the majority of adults still prefer reading them.
It’s not that most people prefer one format over the over, reports show that consumers like the option of having both. People like the convenience of eBooks but they also like having their favorite books in physical form to show off on their bookshelves. Even if eBooks take over the majority of the format preferred, common sense seems to show that physical books will still stick around to be part of people’s collections, like vinyls.
